ég elska þig.

high above the night-time sky not a single light was sleeping,
for they were mourning the loss of the midnight light, the greatest light of all.
within my room, the light crept in and we held our bodies close.
the air was dark and moist and we could see every word we said.
they lingered in front of our faces, long enough to be heard again.
under the covers we hid ourselves from the watchful eyes of stjörnurnar.
beneath the sheets your glow was warm and radiated a dull light
some kind of bluish-grey that never left my sight.
you held my cheek against your hand, looked in my eyes and said-
'elskan mín, sæt elskhugi ég mun aldrei yfirgefa þig eða láta þig innan myrkrinu.'
words were formed but meanings lost yet still i felt security.
from somewhere within my chest i felt a cold breeze take hold.
it clenched my heart and squeezed it tight as you smiled and took my hand,
you ran my fingers along your neck, sending shivers up and down my spine
and as we held on another beneath the warmth i could feel your shaking too
it's a beautiful feeling to find someone.
distance does not matter nor does any dispute.
like vetur pursued by sumar or engill faced by djöfull.
we are bound to dance forever, like sólin and tunglið.
