on the shoreline of an ocean that spans are far as my eyes can see,
in every which-way the water continues on, seeming to never end.
am i destine to forever stare into the salty, winter breeze?
or will the sun break the horizon again and lovingly welcome me?
in the distance, i can see a ship, it's sails like clouds against the sky
the blues and the greens, the ripples and curves, reflecting gracefully from the sea.
i can hear waves crashing against the rocks, violent, unrelenting.
again and again they slip out of view only to surface again.
maybe i can gain meaning from this, maybe they're the same as me
submerging my thoughts within the water, slowly it's drowning me.
the stars that once shone in my eyes, have for the most part abandoned me
but all is not lost, there is a chance i will see the night but this day is lasting forever.
the earth is spinning too slowly for my liking. i wish i could skip through time.
bypass all the petty little thoughts that i dwell on and leave behind this apathy of mine.
every part of my body strings from the sea-salt. my hands, legs and eyes.
i try to blink back the tears and mask the pain within my eyes.
if i were a tree, i'd be an oak. unmoved by the weather, standing strong and valiantly.
but there are times when lightening strikes and not even an oak can survive.
i guess you say i've had a bad day, as well as an oncoming week or two.
i'm marking every day on my calendar hoping this will get easier.
water seems to be my elixir, but the distance is carries is my poison.
i know you're hurting like me but i'm too selfish to ignore the pain.
i guess you can say i'm stubborn, i'm not going to budge from this place.
i'm going to stare out into the ocean until i feel the suns warm embrace.
