i love you faye.

once lost in an ocean, where the waves submerged our heads,
we were drowning. we were inhaling water to our lungs.
thrashing about helplessly in the eye of a typhoon.
we held on another's hand to keep any sign on home,
our grip may have faltered but i never saw you let go
and the thought to loosen my grip never came across my mind,
i never thought about it for a second cause your life is far more precious than mine.
when the waves came crashing down, we pulled our bodies to one another
and i don't know what else to say other than i've never felt so safe.
like the titanic, i'm broken into pieces but with you i feel complete,
no elemental endangerment can cause falter,
no water is cold enough to cause the air to freeze.
as long as i have you inside of me, i have a warmth that will never die.

washed up onto a shore of a distant, tropical land.
awoken by voices crying out 'hey, hey!'
and the mid-morning tide sprays foam up onto us.
the thoughts ricochet off the walls of my mind,
and my vision walks amongst the shadows.
the lunar star rising it cast it's glorious rays upon the shoreline.
when finally i can see light again and images come into focus,
i see you laying next to me, our hands clenched tight over one another's.
through the storm we did brace and we stuck together without giving it a second thought.
like we were bound by lock and chain but the key rests in our lips
because only when i feel you kiss me back and i know that you're still breathing
will i un-entangle our hands so i can pull you closely to my chest.
