untitled #8

once there was a town swallowed up by the mist and fog of the unforgiving world,
near ready to cut ties with the outside world and live on in solitude.
inhabited only by ghosts of previous days, a life where happiness wasn't a fleeting quality.
anyone who ventured to this town left with tired eyes and dull expressions;
the melancholy of the township was contagious, like a pandemic of an emotional sort.
slowly nibbling away at the supports of the clock tower and inciting catastrophe.
the sunlight that entered was never radiant nor comforting
as the haze turned every piece of light grey and every feeling of warmth to an icy, piercing prick.
it created an aura around the town and any who dared to inhabit it.
immersing it's victims into the feeling of being truly alone
visitors came and left making no real difference as the town had made on them
until on night in august, when a loan woman set up a home within the town and
like a mother bird keeping predators away from her newly-hatched offspring,
she shooed away the cloud that smothered the town
and invited in the sun's rays to revitalise and nourish her new home.
loving and caring, she replaced every broken window and fixed every hole in the walls,
if the town were a person she'd have given a new heart to him.
i would know because i am that town and i no longer feel unrest
because my tired eyes rest, safely knowing i'll see you.
finally without distance from memory to presence, i will see you.
